The God of knowledge, wisdom, the remover of obstacles Ganesha is often consulted for advice.
 
When he was a boy, he stopped Lord Shiva from entering the bathing place where his mother Parvati was taking a bath. 

Shiva was furious and cut off Ganesha's head, after realising it was his son, for amendment Shiva cut off the head of a passing elephant and placed it on his son's shoulders.
