The Rosewood Mallah Beads (prayer beads) is a string of 108 beads, and is a symbol of the never-ending cycle. An invocation or mantra is said for every bead. 

In Tibet the Mantra "om mane padme hum" ("praise to the jewel in the lotus") is  recited during prayer or meditation.
